BPL achieves Platinum, the highest possible accolade from Investors in People 

Operators of leisure centres in Barnsley & Bassetlaw have been awarded Platinum accreditation by Investors in People (IIP), the highest level achievable under the internationally recognised “We invest in people!” framework.  

The award reflects the sustained investment in BPL’s people, creating an organisation where employees are proud to say they work, a caring and supportive culture that gives clear direction and consistency, and where everyone has the opportunity to grow and develop. 

BPL joins a select group of platinum holders from over 15,000 organisations worldwide that Investors in People works with, in achieving this prestigious award. It recognises BPL’s approach to leading and inspiring its employees, with strong values that are embraced by all, alongside a supportive and inclusive culture. 

The assessment highlighted a maturing approach to leadership, featuring strong local leadership and a well-embedded people strategy alongside a supportive, inclusive culture built on trust, flexibility, and collaboration. The Investors in People audit confirmed that BPL has built something truly special: a values-driven, people-centred culture where colleagues feel trusted, supported, and empowered to thrive. This is a particularly impressive achievement for a charity within the leisure industry, one that directly strengthens BPL’s ability to make a lasting difference in its ambition to help local communities lead healthier, happier lives and feel good.
