Families, local organisations and community groups came together for a free day of activities, entertainment and shared experiences.
Families from across the local community enjoyed a free Summer Family Fun Day at Your Space Dearneside, filled with activities, entertainment and memorable experiences for all ages.
More than 400 people attended the event, which was created as a Feel Good day for the community and gave local families the chance to spend time together, enjoy new experiences and connect with others in a friendly and inclusive setting.
The day was created to give something back to the community, with the focus firmly on bringing people together and celebrating the strength, warmth and diversity of the local area.
More than 400 people came together at Your Space Dearneside for the free Summer Family Fun Day.
Visitors enjoyed a packed programme of activities throughout the day, including family fun swim sessions, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts, Family Play & Fitness, giant board games and Family Zumba.
One of the biggest highlights was the animal encounter show, which gave children and adults the opportunity to get up close to a fascinating range of animals, including snakes, skunks, tarantulas and a meerkat.
From swimming and fitness activities to crafts, games and family entertainment, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The day gave families, friends and neighbours the chance to spend quality time together and make new connections.
Arts and crafts gave families another opportunity to spend quality time together.
The animal encounter show was one of the highlights of the community day.
The family fun swim sessions proved hugely popular throughout the day.
Local businesses, community organisations and stallholders also supported the event by offering activities, information, merchandise, food and refreshments.
Their involvement helped create a lively atmosphere throughout the centre and demonstrated the strength of the partnerships and connections within the local area.
Most importantly, the event gave people the opportunity to come together, enjoy time with family and friends, and feel part of a welcoming community.
Families enjoyed activities, entertainment and community stalls throughout the day.
The centre was filled with families taking part in creative activities and spending time together.
Local organisations joined the event to share information, support and opportunities with visitors.
The event also supported The Salvation Army Goldthorpe’s food appeal, with visitors invited to bring tins and packets of food to donate on the day.

The Summer Family Fun Day reflected the role of Your Space Dearneside as more than simply a place to exercise or swim.
It is a community space where local people can connect, feel welcome, take part in activities and enjoy shared experiences together.
