Whether they’re just starting out, building confidence or looking for a regular routine, Junior Membership helps young people enjoy fitness in a safe and friendly environment.

Junior gym sessions

Dedicated sessions for 11–15-year-olds, with suitable equipment and professional supervision.

Parent & Junior gym

Train together during selected times, with a parent or guardian aged 18+ accompanying the junior member.

Gym induction

Every junior member completes an induction before using the gym, so they understand the equipment and how to train safely.

Selected classes

Junior members can attend suitable group fitness classes, subject to the current timetable, age guidance and availability.

Swimming

Swimming is included at Royston, subject to the pool timetable, session availability and local admission rules.

Personal programme

A free personalised programme helps junior members build confidence, skills and a positive routine.

Gym session times

Choose the right session.

Junior members can attend supervised Junior Gym sessions alone, or train with an adult during Parent & Junior sessions.

Supervised Junior Gym

Tuesday to Thursday 4pm–5pm and 5pm–6pm
Saturday and Sunday 10am–11am and 11.30am–12.30pm

Junior members aged 11+ may attend supervised sessions without a parent or guardian.

Parent & Junior Gym

Monday to Friday 6.30pm–8pm

Junior members must attend with a parent or guardian aged 18+ during these sessions.

A separate joint induction is required. The junior member must first complete their junior induction, followed by an induction with their parent or guardian during their first Parent & Junior session.

Gym access guidance

Safe use by age.

Junior gym access is based on age, induction guidance and suitable equipment use.

Age Gym access
Ages 11–12 Cardio equipment only, including treadmills, bikes, rowers and steppers.
Ages 13–15 Cardio equipment plus selected resistance machines.
Under 16s No free weights or plate-loaded equipment.
Junior group fitness

More ways to move and feel good.

Junior members can enjoy a selection of suitable group fitness classes, subject to the current timetable, age guidance and availability.

Aquacise

A refreshing, low-impact workout in the pool, combining movement and water resistance.

Zumba

An upbeat dance-based class designed to get everyone moving and enjoying the music.

Studio Cycling

An energetic indoor cycling workout led by a supportive instructor.

Hips, Bums and Tums

A focused class designed to strengthen and tone the lower body and core.

Physical Yoga

A combination of movement, balance and stretching to support strength and flexibility.

Stretch and Tone

A supportive class combining stretching and strengthening exercises for the whole body.

All junior class access is subject to the current timetable, instructor guidance, age suitability and availability.

Can my child use the gym without me?

Junior members aged 11+ can attend supervised Junior Gym sessions independently after completing their induction.

Can I train with my child?

Yes. Parent & Junior sessions allow a parent or guardian aged 18+ to train with the junior member during the specified times.

Do junior members need an induction?

Yes. Junior members must complete an induction before using the gym. A separate joint induction is required before attending Parent & Junior sessions.

Can juniors attend fitness classes?

Junior members can attend selected suitable classes, subject to the class type, current timetable, age guidance and availability.

Can juniors use weights?

Under-16s cannot use free weights or plate-loaded equipment. Other equipment access depends on age and induction guidance.

Is swimming included?

Yes. Junior members can use the swimming pool, subject to the pool timetable, session availability and local admission rules.

Is there a contract?

No. Junior Membership is flexible, with no joining fee and no long-term contract.
