Your Space Retford has been temporarily closed since Monday 10 August while major improvement works are completed across the centre.
We are now entering the final stages of the project and remain on track for our planned reopening on Monday 7 September.
The works form part of a £3 million-plus Public Sector Decarbonisation Project, delivered in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council. The improvements will increase the building’s energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and help create a more sustainable facility for the future.
We’re now in the final week of works at Your Space Retford, with contractors continuing to work across the centre as we prepare to welcome members back.
The project is progressing well. Solar panels and air source heat pumps are starting to be installed, the new LED lighting is being completed throughout the building and the new entrance lobby is taking shape.
We remain on track for our planned reopening on Monday 7 September.

During the closure, several major upgrades are being installed across the centre, including:
Together, these improvements are expected to save hundreds of thousands of kilowatt hours of energy each year and significantly reduce the centre’s carbon footprint.
Monthly Direct Debits have continued to be collected during the temporary closure.
To recognise the disruption, all fitness members will receive one month credited back to their membership once the centre reopens .
Members who have paid for an annual or lump-sum membership will have an additional month added to the end of their membership.
You do not need to do anything. The credit will be applied automatically.
Until Your Space Retford reopens, fitness members can continue to use the facilities at Your Space Bircotes, Your Space Worksop and Your Space Mansfield.
This includes members who normally have a single-site Retford membership. No changes to your membership are required — simply scan in as normal when you visit.
Members can access the gym, fitness classes and swimming facilities available at each site, subject to normal timetables, booking requirements and admission rules.
Please check the relevant site information and timetable before travelling.

Swim Academy lessons have been paused while Your Space Retford is temporarily closed.
Your August Swim Academy payment was not collected.
This happened automatically, so no action was required.
Swim Academy members can continue to access family swimming at Your Space Worksop and Your Space Bircotes until Retford reopens, in line with normal timetables, membership conditions and site admission rules.
Additional holiday activities, including crash courses and selected swimming lessons, may also be available at other Your Space sites. Please check current availability before booking.
Swim Academy members can access member tickets for Calypso Cove Waterpark at Barnsley Metrodome during the temporary closure.
Tickets must be booked in advance through the Barnsley Metrodome website using the usual member booking process. All sessions are subject to availability.

We still have our final coffee morning and community walk taking place before our planned reopening. There’s no need to book — simply come along and join us.

Yes. Retford fitness members can continue to use Your Space Bircotes, Your Space Worksop and Your Space Mansfield until Retford reopens.
This applies to single-site Retford memberships too. You do not need to change your membership — simply scan in as normal.

Swimming lessons have been paused during the closure and the August Swim Academy payment was not collected.

The improvements are being delivered through a funded national decarbonisation programme, which has strict delivery timescales.
Completing the work during this period allows the improvements to be delivered safely and efficiently, at no additional cost to members.
The funding has been provided through the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme and can only be used for eligible energy and carbon-reduction improvements.
It cannot be redirected towards car park improvements. However, discussions with the relevant local authorities about parking pressures at the site are ongoing.
