Everything you need to know about the upcoming closure, your membership and how you can stay active while these important improvements take place.
Your Space Retford will be temporarily closed from Monday 10 August, with a planned reopening on Monday 7 September.
The entire centre will be closed during this period, including the gym, swimming pool, fitness classes, Swim Academy lessons and all other activities.
We appreciate that this will cause some disruption, but the closure is needed so several major improvements can be completed as part of a £3 million-plus Public Sector Decarbonisation Project, delivered in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council.
These works will improve the building’s energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and help create a more sustainable facility for the future.
During the closure, several major upgrades will be installed across the centre, including:
Together, these improvements are expected to save hundreds of thousands of kilowatt hours of energy each year and significantly reduce the centre’s carbon footprint.
Your monthly Direct Debit will continue to be collected as normal during the closure.
To recognise the disruption, all fitness members will receive one month credited back to their membership once the centre reopens.
Members who have paid for an annual or lump-sum membership will have an additional month added to the end of their membership.
You do not need to do anything. The credit will be applied automatically.
While Your Space Retford is closed, fitness members can continue to use the facilities at Your Space Bircotes, Your Space Worksop and Your Space Mansfield.
This includes members who normally have a single-site Retford membership. No changes to your membership are required — simply scan in as normal when you visit.
Members can access the gym, fitness classes and swimming facilities available at each site, subject to normal timetables, booking requirements and admission rules.
Please check the relevant site information and timetable before travelling.
Continue your routine with access to the gym, classes and swimming facilities.
Visit Your Space Worksop for gym, class and swimming options during the closure.
Keep active with access to the facilities available at Your Space Mansfield.
Swim Academy lessons will not run at Your Space Retford while the centre is closed.
Your August Swim Academy payment will not be collected.
This will happen automatically, so you do not need to contact us or make any changes to your account.
Swim Academy members can continue to access family swimming at Your Space Worksop and Your Space Bircotes, in line with normal timetables, membership conditions and site admission rules.
Additional holiday activities, including crash courses and selected swimming lessons, may also be available at other Your Space sites. Please check current availability before booking.
Swim Academy members can access member tickets for Calypso Cove Waterpark at Barnsley Metrodome from Monday 27 July.
Tickets must be booked in advance through the Barnsley Metrodome website using the usual member booking process. All sessions are subject to availability.

We have answered some of the most common questions about the closure, memberships and the improvement works below.
The closure is needed so we can complete major improvements, including new renewable heating systems, solar panels, LED lighting, improved pool ventilation and a new entrance lobby.
These improvements will help reduce energy use and carbon emissions, while improving the comfort and long-term sustainability of the centre.

Yes. Retford fitness members can use Your Space Bircotes, Your Space Worksop and Your Space Mansfield during the closure.

Yes. New members joining before the closure can use Your Space Retford from their joining date until the centre closes.
During the closure, they can continue to use Your Space Bircotes, Worksop and Mansfield. They will also receive the same one-month reopening credit as existing fitness members.
The improvements are being delivered through a funded national decarbonisation programme, which has strict delivery timescales.
Completing the work during this period allows the improvements to be delivered safely and efficiently, at no additional cost to members.
The funding has been provided through the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme and can only be used for eligible energy and carbon-reduction improvements.
It cannot be redirected towards car park improvements. However, discussions with the relevant local authorities about parking pressures at the site are ongoing.
